A lap-sized U-shape pillow she can actually curl into.
15 ร 12 ร 10 cm (6 ร 5 ร 4 in). 200g, about the weight of an apple. Small enough she can curl into the curve the way she'd curl against a sibling. Light enough to follow her into the crate, the car, the carrier.

It's 11pm. She's still not asleep.
The $54 donut bed sits empty in the living room. She's curled on the bare tile floor because the bed feels too big, too foreign, too much. You google "small dog bed" for the third time this week.
You've tried other comforts. Other gadgets. Some of it helped a little. None of it fit her body.
She doesn't need a smaller version of a medium-dog bed. She needs a different shape.
You're Not Doing Anything Wrong. The Bed Was Too Big.
Most beds in this aisle are sized for medium dogs. A chihuahua, a yorkie, a tiny rescue, they need something they can sink into, not climb onto. They want to feel a body against theirs, like mom's belly. That's what the U-shape does, the curve cradles her body the way a sibling would. Small enough to live on the couch, in your lap, in the crate, wherever she actually wants to be.
If she follows you everywhere and won't settle in an oversized bed, the curl-in curve gives her something to lean into.

How you introduce it to her
A pillow built around how a small dog already sleeps.
- The curve. Mirrors the way she already curls, chin tucked, body folded. She doesn't learn a new behavior; she finds a shape that fits the one she's been doing on your knee.
- The cotton. Soft cotton cover and cotton fill. No memory foam off-gas. No scratchy synthetic shell. Materials are OEKO-TEX certified, the same standard used for baby textiles.
- The weight. 200g, about the weight of an apple. Light enough to live in the crate, the carrier, the car seat. Not furniture you commit to; a comfort object that follows her.
A 6-pound dog doesn't need a 28-inch bed.
Most "small" donut beds are built for cocker spaniels, 20 to 28 inches of empty fluff around a 6-pound dog. PawCalm is 15 ร 12 ร 10 cm (6 ร 5 ร 4 in). The same scale as the pillow you'd put under your own neck on a flight. Small enough that her body actually touches something, which is the entire point.

I built this for my dog Gigi.
She came home in spring 2025. Six pounds, a rescue yorkie who likes to be in the same room as me, and the same square foot when possible.
We bought the $54 donut bed everyone recommends. It was beautiful. Gigi did not like it, she climbed up to look at it once and never went near it again. It was bigger than she was.
So we measured her. We sketched on napkins. We made four prototypes. The first three got trashed, too firm, too tall, wrong fabric. The fourth was the one Gigi walked up to and climbed on within two minutes.
She's slept against it almost every night since.
If your dog is small and follows you everywhere, the pillow was built for her too. The 7-Day Calm Protocol that ships with it is the routine I wish I'd had on day one with Gigi.
She still has rough days. Most dogs do. But she sleeps now. And the nights I leave, she stays on her pillow instead of standing at the door.
